Description Original caption: The region of Shekhawati in Rajasthan (India) is famous for its painted houses in a number of towns there. Here, just before modern times arrived, in the 19th and even early 20th century, non-aristrocrats (wealthy and less wealthy trading families) finally let it all hang out and let their houses get painted inside out. This photo is taken in Nawalgarh where we also saw one such painting painted over with a Cola advertisement.
