English: Santuario de San Pedro Bautista[1] (or Church of San Francisco Del Monte - formerly named San Pedro Bautista Parish), stands on holy ground because of its Patron Saint, San Pedro Bautista[2], lived out his vocation, re-energized his missionary calling and prayed for God's people here. It is the second oldest church in the Philippines. The parish belongs to the Diocese of Cubao[3]under the Vicariate of San Pedro Bautista. It is also under the care of Order of Friars Minor (OFM, aka Franciscans), from the Franciscan Province of San Pedro Bautista.Santuario de San Pedro Bautista covers six barangays, namely: Damayan, Del Monte, Mariblo, Paraiso, Sta. Cruz, and Talayan. Twenty-six Martyrs of Japan [5] (日本二十六聖人 Nihon Nijūroku Seijin?) refers to a group of Christians who were executed by crucifixion on February 5, 1597 at Nagasaki. Their martyrdom is especially significant in the history of Roman Catholicism in Japan Saint Pedro Bautista or Saint Peter Baptist – He was a Spanish Franciscan who had worked about ten years in the Philippines before coming to Japan. St. Peter was a companion of St. Paul Miki when Christianity was made illegal.[6]
