Deutsch: Er steht Ciuffagnis Matthäus näher als Nannis Lukas.
Patriarchalfigur, aber ins Dionysische gesteigert. Gegensatz von Brust und Unterkörper, aber die Falten haben nicht die Wirklichkeit von Nannis Formen. Alles ist unendlich mächtiger als bei Ciuffagni und die Wucht des Sitzens gelang hier am besten. Auch das Lasten und der Umbruch der Hände ist machtvoll. Das Ganze wirkt wie ein schweres Gebäu; es fehlt die schärfere Enervation und alle Eleganz. Man hat von Giorgiones Venus gesagt, wenn man sie wecke, würde sie aufspringen und davoneilen wie ein Reh; ähnlich darf man von einem federnden, elastischen Gang des heiligen Lukas sprechen. Der Johannes dagegen tritt mit breiter Sohle auf und schiebt den Leib mächtig durch die Menge.(Schubring) |
