Description
English: Heraldic achievement of Baron Rolle (d.1842) on top of main gates to Bicton House, Exeter, Devon. The escutcheon shows Rolle impaling Trefusis (Argent, a chevron between three spindles sable), the family of his second wife. The sinister (right-hand of viewer) supporter, a greyhound, is that of Trefusis. Latin motto of Rolle: Nec Rege, Nec Populo, Sed Utroque ("Not with the King, not with the People, but on both sides")
