| Description |
English: This long ridge may be a dike, that is it represents a wall of magma that formed inside a weak area of the crust. Later erosion removed surrounding softer material, but allowed the dike to stand. Since Mars shows many large volcanoes, it is expected that many dikes would be there as well. This image was named HiRISE Picture of the Day for April 18. 2024. |
