DescriptionRichard Trevithicks locomotive of 1803 (6466624939).jpg
Working replica of Richard Trevithick's locomotive of 1803 at Blists Hill Museum, Telford 09/09. The original loco was built in Ironbridge and intended for Coalbrookdale Iron Works, Salop, but for some reason is not thought of as having run. Trevithick's next loco, Pen-y-Darren was very similar and was the first loco to haul a load on rails in 1804 on the Pen-y-Darren plateway running from Pen-y-Darren Ironworks, Merthyr Tydfil to the Glamorganshire Canal at Abercynon in South Wales.
