Description

Rescued this female R. rabida from being chopped up in the lawnmower this afternoon and took a few photos before letting her go about her way safely.

She was FAST. Despite missing a leg, she made several (almost successful) escape attempts. On the deck, she cleared a good 10 feet in just a few seconds while trying to get away!

This species can get quite a bit bigger too - I have seen adult females (I believe this one to be a sub-adult) that would easily cover my entire palm with their legs stretched out!

The photo above is a full frame focus stack of 3 photos taken at f/16 with my vintage 1960's thread mount M42 Asahi Pentax "Super Takumar" f/1.4 50mm prime lens reversed to a few extension tubes.
