Physical Description:
The blade emerges from the hilt as a square sectioned bar that angles into the blade proper. This has a single straight cutting edge and widens somewhat towards the point where the back curves to meet it. The grip is of brass with numerous transverse grooves topped by a pommel of staghorn carved with scrolling foliage.

This is one of the many types of knives called parangs that were probably as much for general use as for weapons. There is a virtually identical one illustrated in De Wapens Van Indie, A.G.van Zonneveld, 1996, Leiden.
