Summary

Description
English: Presidential Villa was built between the years 1930 and 1932. Holzmeister sometimes wrote down his observations regarding the construction of the Villa, his encounter with Atatürk and conversations they held with each other; and sometimes he passed his memories to others:

“Once I hesitated to make a choice between two solutions, I said ‘Your Excellency shall decide.’ He looked at me and said: ‘Which one of us is the architect here? You are, therefore you will make the decision....’ If contractors, statesmen, powerful politicians, presidents... If they had taken a similar stance to Atatürk’s, today Europe’s architectural outlook would have been much better.”
