Summary

Description
English: At the top of the sign below the village name is the church of All Saints with a set of daffodils (Narcissus Pseudonarcissus) in front, planted by the churchwarden. The wavy line below the church represents the course of the River Yare which runs to the south of the village.

In the bottom half of the sign are rural and agriculture scenes with the Rosebery Coat of Arms in the centre. A brass memorial of the arms to the Hon Neil Primrose M.C. M.P. can be found inside the church. The arms also contain the Latin inscription ‘FIDE ET FIDUCIA’, also depicted on the sign which means ‘In faith and trust’ and can be found on the Royal Army Pay Corps badge.

The bottom left depicts a ploughed field and stems of wheat representing agriculture in the parish, with milk churns representing the village name. The plants are Alexanders (Smyrnium Olusatrum) found everywhere in the area. On the right is a view from the river Yare close to Surlingham Ferry, with Cow Parsley (Anthriscus Sylvestris) to the right. The heron has been a permanent resident on the river.
