Grant at the The Abraham Lincoln Foundation of the Union League of Philadelphia. Was presented by Union League member Edward C. Knight to The Union League of Philadelphia, a patriotic society founded in 1862 to support Abraham Lincoln and the Union during the American Civil War, at a Union League exhibition. Note: Arthur Edwin Bye observed, ”Waugh has interpreted Grant at his best, in warm, rich, well-blended tones, with earnest expression. It is the man, not the hero nor President, who is presented here.”
