Oil on canvas, the moustachioed young Prince wears a tall black hat and European style coat over white trousers, behind him a landscape with a small town on the horizon, small losses to the canvas, mounted, framed and glazed 22¾ x 16½in. (57.7 x 42cm.

For another portrait of Prince Jalal al-Din Mirza see Yahya Zoka, Life and Works of Sani' ol-Molk, 1814-1866, Tehran, 2003, fig. 11, p. 153. That portrait illustrates the prince from a very different angle and clean shaven. The shape of the nose found on both portraits is however distinctive and similar.)
