File:Ponce de León statue - San Juan, Puerto Rico - DSC06872.JPG

Original file(3,240 × 4,320 pixels, file size: 3.89 MB, MIME type: image/jpeg)

Summary

Description Ponce de León statue in the Plaza de San José, Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. The origin of this statue is obscure; various Internet searches give hints that the sculptor might be Cristina Carreño of Asturias, Spain, and it might have been cast in New York in 1882. (See http://www.ocholeguas.com/2008/09/01/america/1220262646.html and "Sobre la estatua de Ponce de León" in the Boletin Mercantil, San Juan, July 9, 1882.) It is clearly old enough to be in the public domain.
