Español: El corazón y principal espacio público de la ciudad. Tiene 17 mil mts2 de superficie, lo que la transforma en la plaza más amplia de la Región de Coquimbo y una de las más grandes del país. Durante el año 2007, se realizaron trabajos de remodelación, lo que logró darle una apariencia más moderna, con una gran pileta central, escaños con el escudo de la comuna grabado, y predominancia de colores blanco y negro. Su nombre es en honor al Márquez de Montepío, Juan Nicolás de Agruirre y Barrenechea, político y filántropo chileno, del siglo XVIII.
English: The heart and main public space of the city. It has 17,000 m2 of surface, which transforms it into the wider the Coquimbo Region and one of the country's largest square. In 2007, renovation work is performed, which managed to give a more modern look, with a large central fountain, benches with engraved coat of the commune, and predominance of black and white. Its name is in honor of Montepío Márquez, Juan Nicolás de Agruirre and Barrenechea, Chilean politician and philanthropist, from the eighteenth century.
