Il soggetto di questa tavola, proveniente dalla chiesa vecchia di Sant’Andrea a Cerliano, deriva dalla Pietà, oggi perduta, dipinta da Michelangelo per Vittoria Colonna intorno al quinto decennio del Cinquecento. Dell’originale restano un disegno, varie stampe che aggiunsero nuovi elementi iconografici e numerose repliche pittoriche che, pur variando i caratteri, ne replicano l’impostazione di fondo. |
