English: The probability of fixation of mutations in haploid populations are plotted against the mutations' selection coefficient. The probability of fixation is calculated with Kimura's equation. The plot only shows mutations with s<=0. The shaded area indicates the drift barrier (-s*N~1) for each population. The dash lines show the probability of fixation of a mutation with s=-1/N; note the probability of fixation of this mutation is close to that of a completely neutral mutation (s=0). |
