DescriptionPartially assembled tram body (MTT Type E), Brill Company, Philadelphia 1910.jpg
English: A side view of the body of a tram that became the Type E of the Municipal Tramways Trust (MTT) of Adelaide, South Australia, taken at the factory of the J.G. Brill Company, Philadelphia. It is a "works photo" taken in front of an out-of-focus pale canvas backdrop to give clarity to the tram body's details. In front is a sign showing "The J.G. Brill Company Car and truck builders Philadelphia USA Order 16802½ Photo 3214". Every component appears to be identified by a letter and number, perhaps related to the fact that all trams in the order were supplied to the MTT in knocked-down kit form for assembly in Adelaide. The photo shows such features as the metal truss rods that strengthened the wooden frame, the link-and-pin couplers, the roller blinds in the saloon and open compartments, and the delicate structure of the clerestory roof.
