Summary

Description
English: A tholos or 'beehive' tomb conventionally named after Aegisthus, the form size and construction of which class it among the earliest at Mycenae (early 15th century B.C.). It is dug out of the natural hillside, west of the Lion Gate and its basic structural feature is the use of small stones. Both sides of the dromos (passage) are lined by stone masonry set in yellow clay mortar. The chamber is constructed of successive courses of blocks in the corbelled system.
