Summary
| Description | Odda's Chapel (dedicated to The Holy Trinity), Deerhurst, Gloucestershire. A late Saxon chapel built in 1056 by Earl Odda, a kinsman of King Edward the Confessor, in memory of his brother Aelfric. The chapel fell out of use in the 13th Century. To the left is a half timbered farmhouse, Abbot's Court, built in the late 16th/early 17th Century which incorporated the chapel, the chancel of which was completely rebuilt in the process, with half timbered facing to match the house. The chapel was only discovered in the mid 19th Century. Photo taken 22 June 2014. |
