Picture taken by myself in January 2000 during a bicycle trip around the Gaza Strip. Taken during an invite for tea in the structure made of concrete blocks behind the soldier.

This structure held Israelis (IDF) as well as Palestinians. They regularly went on a "joint patrol", consisting of both IDF jeeps (the two jeeps on the left) as well as Palestinian jeeps (the vehicle to the right, behind the concrete structure).

The road at the right hand of the picture is leading towards Rafah, Gaza City is behind me and the road left of the bicycles leads towards the (settler) crossing into Israel, the pedestrian crossing leading to the right points towards the sea and Netzarim settlement.

Please note: This is NOT the IDF position next to the two tall white buildings north of Netzarim Junction, it shows the opposite (south) side of the junction, where the joint patrol was located.
