Description
English: Mo Rùn Geal Òg

The Chisholm Stone, a memorial by the roadside near Mauld.

The inscription reads: W.C. & C.F. 1746 Mo rùn geal òg

It is in memory of William Chisholm, who lived in a cottage near here with his wife, Christina Ferguson. He was the standard bearer for the chief of Clan Chisholm, and left to fight at the Battle of Culloden, where he was killed.

In his memory Christina composed the Gaelic lament "Mo Rùn Geal Òg" (My Fair Young Love).
