English: Martha Hale Dandridge (1795–1875) was born at Yellow House, Hanover County, Virginia. She was the great-granddaughter of Virginia territorial governor Alexander Spottswood, and the great-great-great-great granddaughter of Virginia Crown Governor John West. Martha Hale Dandridge was a first cousin of Martha Dandridge Washington, wife of President George Washington and of General Robert E. Lee of the Confederate Army. She was the wife of William Winston Fontaine, grandson of Virginia governor and statesman Patrick Henry, and the mother of Sarah Anne Fontaine, great-granddaughter of Patrick Henry. After the death of her first husband, Martha Hale Dandridge Fontaine married a Perkins and lived in Martinsville, Virginia.
