DescriptionManchester Museum of Science & Industry geograph-3281711-by-Ben-Brooksbank.jpg
English: Fireless 0-4-0T preserved at Manchester Museum of Science & Industry.
This rather strange locomotive formerly worked at Kearsley Gas Works, near Bolton.
Latest information from MOSI (personal communication): The ‘fireless’ loco Lord Ashfield was the last of these items to leave the site, in 2006. It came to MOSI in the mid 1980s and was operated for many years alongside Agecroft No.3 and, latterly, Planet. We believe it is now at the Bo’ness and Kinneil Railway in Scotland, where it remains in working order but unable to operate due to the lack of a stationary boiler.
