Summary

Description
English: The Mission Station which is an important place of interest because of both its history and its architectural beauty, was founded in 1808 by the Moravian missionaries Kohrhammer and Schmidt under the auspices of Governor Lord Caledon on the site occupied by the Dutch East India Company's military and cattle outpost, “t Groenekloof", founded by Dutch Governor Simon van der Stel in 1679. The site houses the original church building still used today for the same purpose, the “Kleine (Little) Post” military outpost converted to a parsonage, mission houses now used as clerical buildings, a 1935 school house still used for this purpose, the historic shop used as a restaurant, the historic water mill restored and used as a local museum, a slave tree, a reed and thatch historic house, historic bakery with replica outside oven and a more recently constructed community hall.
