Summary

Description On the hillside between Pu'ukohala Heiau and the sea are the ruins of Mailekini Heiau, possibly a war or agricultural temple used by the ancestors of Kamehameha. This older temple was nearly equal in size to Pu'ukohala Heiau but was not so finely crafted. During the rule of Kamehameha I, John Young helped the king convert the temple into a fort.
