Summary

Description
English: Luncheon on the sternwheeler Duchess, on the Columbia River near Golden BC 1887. Captain Frank P. Armstrong is in center at back wearing the wider-brimmed hat, apparently giving directions to the cook. Probably a posed photograph, as it seems unlikely that the gentlemen at the left would routinely place his chair within one inch of the edge of the boat's deck.
