Description Los Angeles Union Passenger Terminal - LAUPT- (under the red roof), the revitalized passenger transportation hub of Southern California. Opened on May 3, 1939 to serve Union Pacific, Southern Pacific, and Santa Fe railroads. It now serves Amtrak, Metrolink, light rail, subway, and bus lines. New commercial and residential construction surrounds the station, but it remains as impressive to see from ground level as from the air.
