Le grand canal vu en direction du sud-est vers le pont du Rialto vers 1758/63 Venise Œuvre de Giovanni Antonio Canal, dit Canaletto (1697-1768) huile sur toile Le peintre s'est placé sur le grand canal, bien au-delà du pont du Rialto (visible tout au fond), au niveau de la Ca' d'Oro (située à sa gauche derrière lui et qui n'est pas visible). La vue est en direction du sud-est. On voit le marché aux poissons à droite, quelques palais et des bâtiments commerciaux ou administratifs comme le Fondacio dei Tedeschi (un entrepôt réservé aux marchands allemands, hongrois et autrichiens au XVIIIè siècle, aujourd'hui c'est la poste centrale de Venise) ou les Fabbriche Nuovo (bâtiment de l'architecte Sansovino pour abriter l'administration du commerce au XVIIIè siècle, aujourd'hui la cour d'assises de Venise) .
