English: Short trunk and bases of main branches of a small ( 2m x 2m ) mature specimen of Latua pubiflora ( Griseb. ) Baillon. Trunk diameter at base circa 6cm. Plant moribund - possibly completely dead - through frost damage and / or disease.
Not an ideal subject for a photograph, but photo taken because specimens of this species mature enough to display mature bark very rare in cultivation in United Kingdom.
This ( now moribund ) specimen was the stock plant from which this rare species was propagated ( by semi-ripe wood cuttings ) by a small, specialist nursery in the county of Herefordshire, United Kingdom.
Photo shows ( rather scaly ) bark texture, and bark colour. Bark colour probably tawnier ( more reddish-brown ) than that of a healthy specimen.
