English: The Lakshna Devi temple is dated to about 700 CE. It is a Shaktism tradition temple, featuring a Durga-Mahishasura Mardini bronze statue inside its sanctum with a 7th-century inscription on its pedestal.

Parts of the temple constitute one of the oldest surviving wooden temple in India. The carved entrance facade made of wood (shown above) is one of those parts. The entrance gateway has the traditional late Gupta Empire-era style design and carvings. Above is a triangular pediment with rows of carvings showing amorous couples, ganas and Hindu deities in niches. In the trefoiled arch manifold at the top is Vishnu riding Garuda. The temple interior also reverentially shows Shaktism, Shaivism and Vaishnavism themes.
