Cette église catholique, dédiée à Saint Michel, date de l'implantation de l'armée française sur "le Rocher" à Dzaoudzi. Elle se trouvait initialement dans la zone militaire.
La chapelle est fréquentée aujourd'hui entre autres par les militaires français car la population de Mayotte est essentiellement musulmane. Une autre église a été construite sur Grande-Terre.
