English: Local stories, indigenous history and the explorer La Perouse:

Randwick Council has recently signed a lease with the National Parks and Wildlife Service to manage the La Perouse Museum.

Housed in a heritage building at La Perouse in the south of the city, the La Perouse Museum documents the expedition of French explorer the Comte de Laperouse. The Museum also has local Indigenous history and a sea life photographic exhibition.

The Museum has a diverse and fascinating collection telling the many stories that relate to this important part of the Randwick region, including maritime history, the ongoing Aboriginal stories, science and communication, and the community histories, much of it on display. La Perouse Museum was delighted to recently receive a grant from the Maritime Museums of Australia Project Support Scheme (MMAPSS) Grant, jointly funded by the Australian Government and the Australian National Maritime Museum (ANMM) with the support of the Ministry for the Arts. This will fund a Significance Assessment and a Collection Policy to help develop and promote their collections.
