English: LAND WAS ACQUIRED IN 1895 BY WILLIAM CONNELL, A SCRANTON COAL BARON AND U.S. CONGRESSMAN. HE BUILT THE LODGE IN 1903. LAND LATER BOUGHT BY COLONEL LOUIS WATRES, FORMER LT. GOVERNOR OF PA. HIS HEIRS DEVELOPED IT AS A BIOLOGICAL WILDLIFE SANCTUARY. DR. RUTH PATRICK A DISTINGUISED FRESHWATER ECOLOGIST WAS VERY INSTRUMENTAL IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE SITE.
REF. # 79002367; I ARRIVED AT THIS SITE WHEN IT WAS ESSENTIALLY DESERTED BUT I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO MEET A KNOWLEGABLE CUSTODIAN WHO TOOK ME DOWN THE ROAD THAT REQUIRES A PERMIT AND GIVEN A FIRST HAND TOUR OF THE FACILITY. I HAVE MULTIPLE PICTURES OF THE SITE. WIKIPEDIA HAS AN ARTICLE ON THIS SITE BUT NO PICTURES. I CAN SUPPLY MORE PICTURES FOR A GALLERY IF YOU LET ME KNOW.
