Description
English: The Kimlau Memorial Arch in Kimlau Square (Chatham Square) in the Chinatown neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City, was designed by Poy G. Lee in granite and structural steel, with cement used for the finish. It was was erected in 1961 by the American Legion, Lt. B.R. Kimlau Post 1291 to honor United States service members of Chinese ancestry who fought and died serving the United States, and is named after Benjamin Kimlau, an aircraft commander in the 380th Bombardment Group, who died in World War II.
