Bhairav is one of the most dangerous forms of Lord Shiva and among the various forms of Bhairav, Kala Bhairav is the most perilous one. The literal meaning of Kala is ‘time’ or ‘death’, hence, Kaal Bhairav is also considered as the ‘Lord of time or death’.
Kaal Bhairav is situated in the Hanuman Dhoka Durbar Square premises in Kathmandu.
Hanumandhoka is the oldest palace of Nepal. Located in the Basantapur Durbar Square, the palace was known as Gutapau palace before the 16th century. It is listed as a world heritage site by the UNESCO.
