Text from: Farrer, Edmund, Church Heraldry of Norfolk, Vol 3 (1893) Lynn, Norwich, Thetford, Yarmouth, pp.28/30[1]:

Or, an eagle displayed gules charged on the breast with a star of six points of the first (Custance), impaling: Azure, on a bend ermine three legs couped at the thigh or (Hambleton, It is given by Papworth for Custance) (Canting arms, 3 hams ?). "John Custance, Esq., an eminent Merchant of this City, Mayor, 1726, 1750 ; died. May 31, 1752, aged 78 ; and Sarah his wife, who died November 22, 1756, aged 76. Erected by Hambleton, their only son; he married Sarah, daughter and co-heiress of John Hambleton of Banham in Norfolk."

Inscribed: Hambleton Custance, who died April 12th, 1757, aged 42, High Sheriff for the county, 1753, the only son of John Custance, Esq. He married Susannah Press, daughter and heir of John Press, Alderman of Norwich. (John Press (1697-1773), Mayor of Norwich, a member of the Worshipful Company of Grocers; Sheriff of Norwich in 1728, and Mayor in 1753. Elected alderman of East Wymer Ward in 1752.
