English: John Stark, one of the rescuers in the Third Relief who tried to save members of the trapped Donner Party in 1847. Stark later became a legislator in the California State Senate. He died in 1875. The photographer is unknown. The original picture is in custody of the Sutter's Fort State Historic Park Archives in Sacramento.
