File:Italian syllable onset phonotactics diagram.gif

Original file(583 × 731 pixels, file size: 20 KB, MIME type: image/gif)

Description Quick-and-dirty diagram of consonants and consonant sequences which can begin an Italian syllable, based on information included in English Wikipedia article Italian phonology. You can pick any consonant from the "Main consonant" column, and if there are blue lines connecting it to the "Pre-C" and/or "Post-C" column, then you can optionally include one of the connected preceding and/or following consonants to form a syllable-initial consonant cluster. In this form, the diagram overgenerates a few sequences (zvr, zvl, zgl).
