Nederlands: Kennis over hoe een crisis te vermijden is er al lang, alleen die lessen van economen zijn we blijkbaar vergeten stelt Irene van Staveren, Professor of pluralist development economics ISS-EUR.
The Economist had in 2009 een cover met een smeltend economieleerboek en de voorspelling dat het onderwijs in economie zou gaan veranderen door de crisis van 2008. Dat is niet gebeurd. Met het boek "Wat wij kunnen leren van economen die (bijna) niemand leest" wil Irene van Staveren de bestaande kennis weer naar voren halen om zo meer debat te krijgen en te laten zien dat economie een sociale wetenschap is. Als je nu zelf die oude werken leest van Frank Knight of Joan Robinson, kom je nog tot verrassende ontdekkingen, anders dan hoe we nu studenten economie onderwijzen. |
