Summary

Description
English: Photograph of Instrument Unit #514 at National Air & Space Museum, Udvar-Hazy Center, Dulles, VA, taken 20 November 2004 by Pablo Jacinto View from the floor, with the umbilical connector to ground support equipment in the middle, on the outside. In flight this would have been covered by a door that is missing. The large tan boxes on the outside are antennas; on the right is a VHF telemetry antenna, and on the left is a command communications system directional antenna. On the interior wall on the left is the sphere holding gaseous nitrogen for the gas bearings in gyros of the ST-124 stabilized platform. The ST-124 is missing from IU-514, and would have been mounted on the ring to the right of the nitrogen sphere. The large cylinder five positions to the right is the flight control computer.
