Summary

Description IFEX (Impulse Fire Extinguisher System) impulse gun on display at the FSBR seminar 2007 in Finland. The extinguisher usually comes together with a backpack. The backpack holds 13 litres of water and has a 2 litre compressed air bottle. When the gun is fired, the air preassure forces all the water out at great speed (120 m/s) in very tiny drops that very effectivly puts the fire out. It can put out fires using very little water. The impulse gun itself holds 1 litre of water. The recharge time is 2-3 seconds, it can be fired before it has been completly filled for more rapid operation, particulary usefull once the flames have been quenched. The system also works with other extinguishing agents and mixes.
