Text Appearing After Image: EAST SIDE OF PUBLIC SQUARE, HUMBOLDT. RICHARDSON COUNTY, NEBRASKA. 545 through the place in 1871, since which time it has built up faster than anytown along the line of the road. It now has between four and five hundredinhabitants. It has one church belonging to the Methodist denomination,which edifice is also occupied by the Presbyterians and Christians. EARLY BUSINESS INTERESTS OF HUMBOLDT. The Humboldt school house is a large two-story building, forty byforty-four feet, with three rooms. The town has three general stores, threedrug stores, one hardware store, one harness shop, one shoe store, twoagricultural depots, two millinery shops, two blacksmith shops, one wagonshop, one carpenter shop, one barber shop, one furniture store, one billiardhall, one flouring mill, one livery stable, one photograph gallery, two hotels,two lawyers, three ministers and five physicians. The country is settledthickly in every direction around Humboldt with a thrifty, intelligent classof farmers, and H
