English: From source: Anatomical reconstruction of the rostral musculature of hippidiforms based on the homologies with Equus caballus. Skull based on specimen MLP 6-2 of Onohippidium munizi (A), deeper rostral musculature (B), and rostral muscles associated with the mobility of the well-developed upper lip (C). The cartilaginous buttress that would have held the slender nasal bones is not shown. Note that B excludes the m. levator nasolabialis so as not to obscure the m. levator labii superioris, which is shown with two separate origins at the DPOF. |
