English: "Hiding the original charter in the Oak." The original royal charter of Connecticut was hidden in the trunk of a nearby large white oak tree in 1687, to hide it from agents of King James. Undated (likely 19th century) woodcut. Cleaned up with Photoshop "neural filters".
