Summary

Description
English: Contact mechanics: When a sphere is pressed against an elastic material, the contact area increases. Jerk (physics): When a heavy bowling ball is dropped on a soft mattresss, a jumpulse, a sudden increase of force, is needed to keep the ball from bouncing up when the mattress is fully indented. This also illustrates touch, which is a collision without bounce.
Français : Lorsqu'on presse une sphère contre un matériau élastique, la surface de contact augmente.
