Description

Memorial tablet on the north wall of the north chapel, St Peter's Church, Henfield, West Sussex. The inscription can be translated thus:

Henry Bishop, ar[miger]. A sure friend in unsure times, remarkable for his charity, hospitality, and urbanity; when, through various adventures and many crises, he completed eighty-six years, his old age being at an end, he was laid here among his ancestors. 19th March A.D. 1691.
