Description
The Haarlem gate in Amsterdam, built by Hendrick de Keyser, and painted in 1615. On the left we see the tow-boats waiting for passengers. One horse is led to the boats, another is led away from the boats after work. This one is mounted by a man with a whip. Both horses have the traces to be harnessed to the boat.
