Summary

Description At the Piccadilly entrance to the park. Dating from the early 18th century, these wrought iron ornamental gates have travelled a bit. They originally stood at Lord Heathfield's house at Turnham Green, but this was demolished in 1837 and they were bought by the Duke of Devonshire [also owner of Chatsworth House in Derbyshire] and used at Chiswick House, then Devonshire House in Piccadilly. When that was demolished, they were finally moved over the road to Green Park in 1921.
