Description
English: The Greek Lysee of the Fener known as the Megali Scholio or Great School in Greek. It was founded before the Turkish Conquest and survived. Greek voivodes (governors) and hospodars of Moldavia and Wallachia were trained here and many of the chief interpreters who served at the Sublime Porte. The present building was built in 1881, in red brick (from Strolling through Istanbul; Redhouse)
