Notes This work has been identified as a self-portraitː Natalya Gritsay, “An unknown self-portrait by Gonzales Coques in St Petersburg”, The Burlington Magazine 151 (2009): 90-91. This work was in the collection of Count Cobenzl, Plenipotentiary Minister in the Austrian Netherlands of the Archduchess and Empress Maria Teresa, and was acquired from him by Catherine the Great in 1768, not from the Crozat collection, as was previously thought.
